A Lot of Friends and A Lot of Family

jerome and i always seem to be so busy in our work lives that when we finally have a weekend off AT THE SAME TIME, it is packed with activities. this last weekend was my 10 year high school reunion- go blue valley northwest huskies! i have to admit, it was a darn good time seeing
everyone again. it is weird how so much, but so little can change! of course there is the obvious such as marriages and kids, but then some people are still the same old drunkos or still trying to prove something. i still consider my friends from high school my best friends and friends for life. i feel blessed that i met these individuals early in life. jerome had a great time at the reunion as well. although he is a topeka west alumni, he seemed to know just about as many people as i did at the reunion! on occasion he will play softball with a team of guys who have played every year since high school- go fighting frosties! to tell you the truth, i am looking forward to a 20 year reunion. good times. bet we will start seeing more plastic surgery at that one...

a downer to being a career oriented couple is the loss of some valuable family time. it seems like we see family all the time, but this weekend was an eye opener. first, my cousin shelley and her family came in town from illinois- wow how her kids have grown! it was great to see them. of course if forgot my camera so no pictures :c(
On sunday we celebrated my mother in laws birthday at a pool party in topeka. it was really a great and relaxing time. our niece salah is now 3.5 months old and amaya is potty training- WHAT!?! where has the time gone. selah is absolutely adorable and an easy going baby... they really deserve that after amaya! and although amaya was a difficult baby, she is quite a wonderful young lady now. she shows you her "funny face" and wears the cutest platform shoes (ones that match her mommys). she also loves to sing songs. and i know what you readers next question will be to jerome and i... "when are you going to have kids?" we hear this all time. lets just say, don't hold your breath. although we love our nieces and nephews, they seem to get us our "kid fix" and we can pass them off! with jerome being in his masters and me starting my doctorate, there is just know way... Xena and Ditty are enough!

Little "E", the Pimp

emily rieke finnell came in town for the week and for the first time i was able to meet her little boy! so weird to be sitting in front of the television where we used to sit everyday after high school, but now with a little boy on the floor kicking around.

we went out to get some drinks at a local wine bar, and emily is on the phone with her babysitting mom making sure that the baby is being taken care of right. things really change a lot in 10 years! in fact i will find out just how much they have changes this weekend at my 10 year high school reunion... WEIRD! I feel so incredibly old.
