Yesterday was the big day: mothers bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. The day started early and ended late. Surgery lasted about 6.5 hours! Time went a lot smoother with my best friend at my side (thanks Jerome!). Mom was a rock... she joked with the nurses and was ready to conjure the cancer. I wa

s amazed! After she came out of surgery she kept stating that "I feel like I have been dragged behind a horse face down." If I said this statement wrong to any friends or family that called, she was quick to correct me. After she received some morphine, the rest of the night went great and today she has continued to tolerate the pain quite well. She has been up and walking around with some occasional "ouch ouch ouch" statements. The surgeon came by this morning and said that everything went well and she should be able to leave the hospital today! The best news is that the cancer does not seem to be in any of the lymph nodes and most likely no further treatment will be needed!
Thanks so much to my friends and family that have supported us!
